The final collection from MAFCSM takes discarded inner tubes off the road and rebuilds them into something fashion couldn't have predicted — and we are completely here for it.
Upcycling is a word fashion has worn out. It has come to mean well-intentioned patchwork, vintage reworking, the kind of sustainability that announces itself loudly and delivers modestly. What MAFCSM does with their final collection is something else entirely — and the difference is worth naming clearly.

The collection takes discarded tyre inner tubes — objects that have already lived a full industrial life, been compressed, heated, worn down, and thrown away — and rebuilds them into a complete experimental wardrobe. Jackets, footwear, full looks. The material brings everything with it: tension, weight, a faint memory of function that never quite disappears. Industrial, protective, almost sculptural, but still wearable. That combination is not easy to achieve, and the collection earns it without overselling it.
"This is material reprogramming — not recycling a resource, but reassigning an identity. The tyre tube doesn't disappear into the garment. It becomes the garment, history and all."

We love that they are doing this. Taking something discarded, something most people would never think to look at twice, and finding not just utility in it but genuine fashion language — that is a creative act that deserves recognition beyond the sustainability conversation. The jackets carry a raw, reconstructed energy that feels considered rather than accidental. The shoes push the same logic further, letting texture and form do the talking. Nothing is over-refined, and that deliberate roughness is exactly what gives the collection its authority.

The distinction between upcycling and what MAFCSM is doing matters because one is a process and the other is a point of view. A discarded tyre inner tube, in their hands, doesn't become a garment that happens to be made from an interesting material. It becomes a fashion object with an entirely different identity — one that carries its previous life as a feature rather than hiding it as a flaw. That is a harder thing to pull off, and they pull it off completely.
